§ Our Story

How a small ministry came to be sent to Thailand.

Set Free to Serve is a Christian missionary organization based in New Port Richey, Florida, sending Abraham Ivie and Neal Iqbal to live and serve full-time in Thailand. Our mission is summed up in four words: Faith, Freedom, Missions, Discipleship.

Set Free to Serve grew out of a long friendship between two men who had each, separately, felt called to missions for years before they ever met. Abraham Ivie and Neal Iqbal first connected in Florida and quickly recognized in each other the same restless conviction: that the Gospel needed to go further, to people who had not yet heard it, and that they had to be the ones to go.

After several years of preparation (language study, theological training, ministry apprenticeships, and prayer), the two committed to serving in Thailand together under the umbrella of Global Frontier Missions. Set Free to Serve was established as the support arm of that work: a small, lean ministry built to channel donor support directly to the field, with no paid staff in the United States and full transparency on where every dollar goes.

Missionary, Thailand · Global Frontier Missions

Abraham brings years of ministry experience, theological grounding, and a heart for evangelism among people groups who have never had a clear opportunity to hear the Gospel. His passion for cross-cultural witness was forged through early ministry in his home community, training under seasoned pastors, and time spent praying through the data on unreached people groups, including the Thai.

Neal complements the team with a discipleship-focused posture, a love for one-on-one mentorship, and gifts in teaching and friendship-building. His path to the mission field came through years of local church involvement, seminary preparation, and a growing certainty that his long-term calling was overseas, to the Thai people specifically.

Thailand is home to over 70 million people. Fewer than 0.5% of them identify as Christian. By any honest count, that means tens of millions of Thai men, women, and children have lived their whole lives without ever hearing a clear presentation of the Gospel. We believe Jesus Christ deserves followers from every nation and every people group, and we believe Thailand is one of the great unfinished mission fields of our generation.

We don’t go because we have something Thailand lacks. We go because Christ has commanded his Church to make disciples of all nations, and because we believe that when the love of Jesus is shared with patience, humility, and faithfulness over years, it sets people free in a way nothing else can.

Our four-word mission summarizes how we live this out:

  • Faith

    Rooted in Christ

  • Freedom

    Released from bondage

  • Missions

    Sent to the unreached

  • Discipleship

    Multiplied through relationships

Set Free to Serve is supported entirely by partners: churches, families, and individuals who believe in this work and stand behind it through prayer and giving. There are no paid stateside administrators. Every dollar goes directly to supporting Abraham and Neal in Thailand: their living expenses, ministry resources, travel, and the ongoing work of sharing the Gospel with the Thai people. Donations are tax-deductible.
